Leadership

Alan Day, Managing Director of State of Flux, has more than 15 years' experience in procurement and supply chain best practice.

Alan started his career at Fisher & Paykel, the leading New Zealand-based manufacturer of domestic appliances, where he ran its global supply chain. Alan then moved to the UK and joined Accenture, where his clients included British Airways, Shell, Microsoft, BSkyB and Morgan Stanley and he was Director of the firm's Supply Chain European Centre of Excellence. Subsequently, Alan became a Director of Procurement & Supply Chain at Cable & Wireless, before founding State of Flux in 2004.

In addition to running State of Flux, Alan retains direct client management for Barclays, Deutsche Bank and Cisco and consults to the International Trade Centre (a UN/WTO joint venture) on eTrade & Supply Chain.


David Hood is State of Flux’s Commercial Director and specialises in contract law and negotiation. He is a qualified solicitor with 10 years' experience as a lawyer in large commercial law firms and organisations in New Zealand and the UK. During his career, David has acted for a wide range of large, well-known clients including Monsanto, Tyco, Cameron MacKintosh, Ansett Australia, the British Medical Association, the Bank of New Zealand and KPMG.

David has four degrees, including a Masters Degree in Law with Distinction from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and is currently completing a PhD and teaching commercial contracts law at LSE.


Michele Edis is an Executive Consultant and has responsibility for managing a number of key client relationships and the consulting teams within these clients. Her experience at State of Flux includes leading the eAuctions and eRFx solution teams responsible for delivering the largest eRFP produced on an eSourcing platform (both in content size and value).

Prior to joining State of Flux, Michele led the implementation of Ariba Sourcing at Commerzbank and worked for JPMorgan as eProcurement & Procurement Strategy Manager (EMEA), where the key focus of her role was change management initiatives across the firm.


Joan Watson is responsible for ethical procurement, including CSR and environmental issues. Her 20 years' experience spans operational strategies, strategic procurement, indirect taxation, supply chain management, change management, integration management, finance policies and planning.

Most recently, Joan established the Carlton Television team responsible for CSR and environmental policies that moved the company from the bottom quartile into the top quartile in its sector. Joan is also a trustee of YCTV, a charity that works with excluded and marginalised young people, and is a practising psychotherapist and counselor.
