Founder Alan Day becomes Chairman and David Hood CEO as leading UK procurement and supply chain consultancy looks to expand its global presence.
State of Flux has today announced changes to its senior management team designed to further grow the business, particularly in international markets, during the next 12 months.
Alan Day, who founded State of Flux and has been its Managing Director since January 2004, becomes Chairman with immediate effect. He will focus on developing major accounts and expanding State of Flux’s client base outside of the UK, as well as leading sales of the firm’s pioneering Supplier Relationship Management System, a web-based collaboration platform for organisations and their strategic suppliers.
“Our successful project delivery and marketing efforts, particularly in the area of supplier relationship management, has led to strong international demand for our services from existing and new clients,” said Alan Day. “I am excited to be able to devote most of my time to building our business with companies in North America, Europe and Asia, where we know there are significant growth opportunities.”
State of Flux’s clients are primarily FTSE 100 and Fortune Global 500 companies. It currently works with 10 of the top 20 publicly traded British firms, including BP, Vodafone, British American Tobacco, Unilever, BG Group and Barclays.
Prior to founding State of Flux, Alan Day held roles as a Director of Procurement and Supply Chain at Cable & Wireless and Director of Accenture’s Supply Chain European Centre of Excellence. He started his career at Fisher & Paykel, the New Zealand-based manufacturer of domestic appliances, and has almost 20 years’ experience in the procurement and supply chain field.
David Hood has taken over leadership of State of Flux’s UK business in the newly created role of Chief Executive. He was previously the company’s Commercial Director and has been a member of its senior management team since 2007.
A qualified solicitor with a decade’s experience working with clients at major law firms, David Hood is an expert in contract and commercial law and has played a key role in developing State of Flux’s contract management and legal sourcing service lines, particularly in the oil & gas and financial services sectors.
Commenting on his appointment as CEO, David Hood said: “This shift in responsibilities reflects exciting times for State of Flux. We have built an outstanding team of consultants and a strong set of core services in recent years, and I personally look forward to leading and growing our UK operations during 2012.”
